Common Barriers to Success And Potential Solutions

During the 2014-15 academic year, we collected data from 20 CLA-focused STEEP sessions and conducted a thematic analysis of the identified barriers and solutions to educational achievement for children in care and care leavers.

Several Approaches Were Used, Including:

Children in care, designated teachers, foster carers, and social workers are examples of single stakeholder groups.
Multi-stakeholder groups with representation from all of the above groups.
Schools in the same area are holding joint sessions.
STEEP is being used in primary and secondary schools to focus on transition.
