Common Barriers to Success and Potential Solutions
During the 2014-15 academic year, we collected data from 20 CLA-focused STEEP sessions and conducted a thematic analysis of the identified barriers and solutions to educational achievement for children in care and care leavers.
Several Approaches Were Used, Including:
- Children in care, designated teachers, foster carers, and social workers are examples of single stakeholder groups.
- Multi-stakeholder groups with representation from all of the above groups.
- Schools in the same area are holding joint sessions.
- STEEP is being used in primary and secondary schools to focus on transition.
