Entry to the Achievement for All, Joffre White Wonder Words Prize for Young Writers 2021 implies your acceptance of all rules and guidelines listed below.

  1. Submissions must be your own original work and must not have been published elsewhere either online or in print.
  2. Poems of up to 40 lines. Short Stories of up to 1,000 words ­– Theme of Happiness and Wellbeing.
  3. Closing Date for received entries is 23rd July 2021
  4. Entries should be A4, typed in a clear font such as Arial or Helvetica in minimum 12pt, 1.5 line spaced in English and submitted as an attached word document in the body of the email.
  5. Maximum entry of One Poem and One Short Story per writer.
  6. The competition is open to young writers living in the UK and attending a registered Achievement for All Affiliated School.
  7. All entries are judged anonymously only the title, not the writer’s name should appear on the work itself. Your details will appear on the entry form only.
  8. Entries must be emailed to wonderwords@afaeducation.org
  9. Entries must be accompanied by an entry form available at wonderwords@afaeducation.org
  10. Entries will only be accepted through email submission to wonderwords@afaeducation.org
  11. Entries will not be returned so please keep your own copies.
  12. All submissions are shredded and recycled at competition closing.
  13. No corrections can be made after submission.
  14. Eligibility: The Wonder Words Prize is open to young writers between the ages of 6 and 16 years of age. Awards will be given in two age categories 6 -11 and 12 -16 for Poems and 6 -11 and 12 -16 for Short Stories.
  15. Entries must be entirely the work of the entrant and must not have been previously published in print or online or been placed in any other writing competition.
  16. All work submitted must be original, fictional, and entirely the author’s own work and not infringe the copyright or any other rights of any third party and not be defamatory of any living person or corporate body. Entries must suitable for a general audience if published on joffrewhite.com and afaeducation.org/
  17. Parental Consent. Entrants must have the consent of their parent, teacher, or appropriate adult to enter their work. Appropriate adults must signal their consent on the entry form. Entries will not be accepted without the consent of an appropriate adult. Signatories will be required to re-confirm their consent before the winner announcements on 6th September 2021
  18. The Award is not open to employees or trustees of afaeducation.org/ or their direct family members.
  19. Winners and Announcements: The winner/s will be informed by and announced on 6th September 2021
  20. Winners must be able to provide a photograph and short biography of themselves for inclusion in this announcement.
  21. No written feedback will be given on any of the entries other than the 1st Prize winner/s or any correspondence entered into regarding the outcome of the competition by the judges or by afaeducation.org/
  22. By submitting an entry for the competition, the entrant hereby acknowledges and agrees that the winning Achievement for All, Joffre White Wonder Words Prize entries:
  • May be reviewed on the afaeducation.org/  or on www.joffrewhite.com website in text and/or audio
  • May be written about in any afaeducation.org/ promotional material and that of any sponsors of the Achievement for All, Wonder Words Prize for Young Writers. It goes without saying that if the winners go on to publish their work, we’ll all be delighted!
  1. The Judging: All submitted entries are guaranteed to be read at least twice by a dedicated team of judges.
  • The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • The judging will be fair and independent.
  • The head of this year’s judging is Joffre White, Author and Ambassador for Achievement for All.
  1. The Prize: 1stin each age category: £25 book tokens for you plus £25 book tokens for your school or college

  2. Non-cash prizes are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash
  3. Agreement: Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these guidelines without reservation and to have agreed to be bound by them when entering this competition. Entries which contravene these guidelines will be disqualified.
