Although not hugely stark on first inspection, there is a general lower achievement of boys in most areas of the curriculum.

Barton Peveril Sixth Form wanted to narrow their gap between boys and girls' outcomes which they have started to do with great success, thanks to Achieving Further!

“In years 1 and 2 of the Achieving Further Pilot, we worked with Sociology, Psychology and Art curriculum leaders and their teams. The coach provided training and opportunities for discussion by the teams on how to better engage and work with male learners. The outcome for A Level from 2014 to 2016 showed a significant improvement and we are pleased to be continuing this work in 2016/2017. In the first two years of the project the difference between male and female students on A level reduced by over half and Male students’ results in A Level overall improved by just over 2%”
