This summer, the Department for Education is investing £220 million to support HAF programmes (Holiday Activity and Food) across the country.

We know HAF providers wish to work hard to ensure that any experience that is developed and offered has the greatest impact possible on “school-readiness”, a vital aspect of the HAF programme:

“Objective 1.8.3. To take part in engaging and enriching activities which support the development of resilience, character and wellbeing along with their wider educational attainment.”

The HAF Alliance is a collaboration of national and local charities and not-for-profit organisations with direct, on-the-ground experience of what works in providing Holiday Activities with Food at scale, within local authority areas.

Achievement for All is playing a leading role within the HAF Alliance as the School Readiness Champion. This is built on three previous years supporting summer “Fit and Fed” activity in support of the national doorstep sport charity StreetGames.

In partnership with the HAF Alliance, we aim to:

  • Give HAF partnerships ideas and suggestions to enhance planned provision
  • Promote wonderful opportunities offered by other HAF Alliance partner organisations that can be seamlessly blended with existing provision
  • Support local HAF partnerships with advice, guidance and professional development opportunities so that, in this and subsequent years, their offer just gets better and better
  • … And spread effective practice quickly and directly

This bulletin is the first in a series that will support all HAF partnerships to develop their offers.

Look out for the next one in a fortnight’s time:
